About the show
Voivod Csóri, the leader of migrating gypsies, is dreaming about the rise and glory of gypsy country. However, in the ugly reality, he and his community got stuck in a Hungarian stronghold, which is besieged by Austrian troops. Hungarian defenders escape from the hopeless situation under the cover of night, leaving Csóri and his people to their fate. What else could the always brave and joyful gypsies do? They hold a festival, eat and drink and dance, and then prepare to defend the fortress. They manage to scare off the enemy, but unfortunately, there are ups and downs in life...
The dance comedy made on the basis of a Hungarian legend from the 16th century presents the culture of gypsies living in Europe, which is worth a treasure, in the language of movements. Sándor Román’s choreography not only interweaved gypsy folk dances with the festival in the play, but also the dances that gypsies had encountered during their migration. Turkish, Persian, East Indian and Egyptian elements complete this hilarious story.
