The ensemble, which specializes in baroque music, was founded by Michel Keustermans. La Cetra d’Orfeo (The Lyre of Orpheus) plays a distinguished role in the cultural life of Belgium’s French-speaking community. They regularly present their colourful programmes at the festivals of France, Italy, the UK, Germany, and Spain, and they are welcome guests in North and South America.
Each of their programmes aspires to offer a rich overview of a period or style, and for the same reason they often collaborate with dancers, actors or puppet artists: they consider it important to present the literature, the dances, the clothes, or simply the everyday customs, of a given period.
