Set in Budapest, spring 1957, after the failed revolution when Hungarian society succumbed to reprisals and hopelessness, marking the start of the threedecade Kádár era. Twelve-year-old Andor, raised by his single mother, believes his war-missing father will return. When a stranger appears claiming to be his father, Andor rejects him despite the man moving in.
