A verseny 2. fordulójában a versenyzők egy-egy szabadon választott teljes szonátával valamint egy szabadon választható előadási darabbal lépnek a nemzetközi zsűri elé. A klasszikus gitár irodalma gazdag a XIX.-XX. századi, valamint kortárs zeneszerzők több tételes szonátáiban, melyek a zeneszerető, de a hangszer irodalmát nem ismerő közönségnek izgalmas, új színt hoznak a zenehallgatás palettájára. Ki gondolná, hogy Paganini - aki maga is gitározott! - szóló gitár szonátát is írt? Vagy ki ismeri a többszörös Oscar-díjas Rózsa Miklós Gitárszonátáját? Kevesen, de aki meghallgatja a Budapesti Nemzetközi Gitárverseny 2. fordulóját azaz a középdöntő, ilyen és ezekhez hasonló zenei csemegékben dúskálhat! Nem utolsósorban a megmérettetés izgalma is át fogja szőni a napot, mert estére kiderül, kik lesznek a rangos megmérettetés döntősei!
In the second round of the competition the musicians will play a complete sonata and another piece (both of their own choice) in front of the international jury. The literature of classical guitar music is rich in the multi-movement sonatas composed by 19-20th century or contemporary composers. These works will definitely bring new and exciting experience for music lovers not familiar with the literature of this instrument. Who would think that Paganini - who also played the guitar himself - composed a solo guitar sonata as well? Or who is familiar with the Guitar Sonata composed by the multiple Academy Award winner Miklós Rózsa? Not many. But if you listen to the second round, i.e. the semi-finals of the Budapest International Guitar Competition, you can enjoy such musical rarities. Last but not least the excitement of the competition will also pervade the day, as by the evening it will turn out who the finalists of the renowned competition will be.
