The Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel is one of the greatest opera singers of our time. His versatility is legendary: he sings everything from Mozart and Puccini to hit musicals. He also gives song recitals and performs in oratorical works. Having given us several chances to hear him at Müpa Budapest before, this time he is coming as a guest of the Budapest Wagner Days festival purely to evoke extraordinary moments from the great German composer’s operas. Coming to life in his voice will be four different roles, four different personalities: Hans Sachs from Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Wolfram von Eschenbach from Tannhäuser, Wotan from Die Walküre, and the doomed mariner from Der fliegende Holländer. There will also be some orchestral excerpts by Wagner to round out the programme.
