While the sextet's 1995 album Night Silence – Kálmán Oláh's first album as a leader – was dominated by modern mainstream style, the Septet's new album Return to Pangea reflects his affinity for classical and contemporary music. The album mostly features the bandleader's compositions, originally written for symphony orchestra and then reworked for jazz septet. The influence of 20th-century classical composers, especially Igor Stravinsky, can be traced in almost all of the pieces. The septet features leading figures of the Hungarian jazz scene, who are not only excellent soloists but also composers, and perfectly complement Kálmán Oláh's music with creative solos and accompaniments.
