During his tenure at the Opera House, Mahler premiered his Symphony No. 1 at the Vigadó in Pest, and he was also responsible for introducing Wagner’s Ring cycle into the Hungarian repertoire. The programme also pays tribute to György Kurtág, celebrating his 100th birthday in 2026, with his work ΣΤΉΛΗ (Stele), originally written for piano and later arranged for a large orchestra.
