    PASSION. ILLUSION. EMOTION.

‘Phantasy Quartet’ for oboe and string trio is a musical piece composed by the then eighteen-year-old student of the Royal College of Music Benjamin Britten. The work was performed several times in England, and then also at the International Society for Contemporary Music’s (ISCM) festival in Florence in 1934. The piece immediately sparked the international music world’s interest in the young English genius. In addition to this piece, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra’s second chamber music evening will also include a youthful Schubert trio as well as masterpieces by Brahms and Bartók, and Weber’s ‘Romance for Trombone and Piano’. The latter presents an excellent opportunity for drawing the audience’s attention to the lyrical capacities of the instrument used by the performer.
