Vígszínház1896-ban egy év alatt felépült az impozáns Vígszínház. Szépséget és eleganciát sugárzó nézőterére több mint ezer ember fér be, mégis ritkán kellett üres széksorok előtt játszani a színészeknek: az első pillanataitól kezdve telt házakat vonzott ez a színház. Itt született meg a huszadik századi korszerű magyar színjátszás. Már a kezdetektől legalább háromféle arculatot mutatott: játszott klasszikusokat, irodalmi rangú kortárs szerzőket, és színészei mindenkor sikerre tudták vinni az elegáns francia vígjátékokat, bohózatokat, a "jól megcsinált darabokat." Nemcsak a korszerű színjátszás indult el e falak közül, hanem itt született a modern magyar polgári dráma is. A színház a hetvenes-nyolcvanas évtizedben kortárs külföldi és magyar ősbemutatók mellett eredeti magyar musicalekkel vonzott magához új közönségréteget: a Képzelt riport... (1973), Harmincéves vagyok (1975), Jó estét nyár, jó estét szerelem (1977), a Kőműves Kelemen (1982) majd a még most is telt házakat vonzó A Padlás, Játszd újra, Sam! és a közelmúlt sikere A dzsungel könyve és az Össztánc. Vígszínház39 programmusical family road movie from 10 to 100 years old 2022. októberében elindítottuk interaktív improvizációs-est sorozatunkat. Minden hónapban egy rendhagyó estére játszani hívjuk közönségünket. Ezen kivételes alkalmak mindig a legkülönfélébb témákat járják körül, más-más színészekkel, a legkülönfélébb játékszabályok szerint, de mindenképpen nézőink aktív közreműködésével.
