Vad Fruttik
Separate - once and for all
In December 2022, Vad Fruttik, one of Hungary's most popular bands, returned after a long absence with their eighth studio album, considered by many to be the most sensitive and courageous in their history. Marcell Likó and his group began 2023 with a new line-up, and look set to provide a unique, unrepeatable experience at Müpa Budapest with a performance of their new record, Elválaszt (Separate), from start to finish. The Müpa Budapest audience will have a unique opportunity to hear all of the tracks from Elválaszt, as only a few of the songs from their latest album will make it to Fruttik's club and festival programme.
Vad Fruttik have been one of Hungary's leading alt-rock groups since the mid-2000s, enjoying a string of hit records in the 2010s and huge popularity throughout the country. From their 2018 record Szabad vagy (You're Free) until December 2022, however, they did not release any new full-length albums. Yet Elválaszt, their eighth record, surpassed all expectations, featuring diverse material that is full of surprises, a bold sound and delicate instrumentation. The album was produced by iamyank, who is at home with everything from electronic music to contemporary chamber music and post-metal. A change was also made to the band's line-up prior to the release of the record, with frontman, singer and guitarist Marcell Likó and guitarist Gergely Kerekes joined by three experienced musicians: iamyank on keyboard instruments, Dexter - also one of Hungary's leading sound engineers - on bass guitar, and from the electronica scene, Gábor Tokár on drums, who also makes music under the name Ficture. In addition to performing the LP in full, the band will also play some older songs that perfectly fit Elválaszt's complex and sensitive world.
